Durham Region Film & Television Office
A unique mix of industrial, urban and rural locations is waiting to be discovered in Durham
Region, just east of Toronto. Historic buildings, rural villages, vintage sawmills, old and
new mansions, historic and modern train stations, an airport, Canada's largest motorsport
raceway, a variety of industrial and urban settings, marshes, woodlands, trails, rivers,
a deep-water harbour on Lake Ontario, and the recreational setting of Lakes Scugog and
Simcoe are all in very close proximity to Toronto and Filmport.
Location filming in Durham region has a beneficial economic impact on a broad range of
local businesses and service providers from gas stations, contractors and building supply
stores to hotels, restaurants and retail businesses of all types. In 2007, 199 productions
were filmed in Ontario and generated $791 million in direct spending in the province.
Property owners who feel they have a potentially interesting location to offer-vintage or
modern, industrial or agricultural, private home or corner store-are invited to call the
Film Office for more information on being listed as a potential location, and to visit the
Ontario Media Development Corporation's location library at
www.omdc.on.ca.
