As 'Ontario's Energy Capital,' Durham Region produces 30 per cent of Ontario's energy generation needs. Durham is home to numerous companies that produce and distribute power; develop new and renewable energy technologies, alternative fuels, manufacturing components and systems; and provide service support to the industry.  The Region of Durham is a founding member and administrator of the Durham Strategic Energy Alliance (DSEA), a membership-based non-profit organization of businesses, institutions and government committed to promoting and building upon Durham Region's unparalleled strengths in the energy sector. The vision of DSEA is to position Durham Region as a recognized leader in providing timely, sustainable and reliable energy solutions. Its mission is to foster an energy-friendly environment in Durham Region that is a model for action in Ontario and Canada in the 21st century.
