The Region is home to two post-secondary institutions – Durham College and University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) – which train and educate a skilled labour force, and provide research services for local businesses. Over 58 per cent of Durham residents have at least a two-year college diploma, skilled trade certificate or university degree. Durham's post-secondary institutions ensure an ample and well-balanced employment base, including graduates with management expertise. These factors translate to a workforce endowed with an understanding of industry principles and applied capabilities. A business location in our region provides tremendous opportunity for industry to tap into this highly talented labour force.
