Government Support for Growth
Businesses can count on support from Regional Council, economic development offices, local chambers of commerce, boards of trade and business improvement areas. Industries located in Durham benefit from a provincial health care system, competitive tax rates and access to federal and provincial business development programs that support research, employee development and general advisory services.
Research and Development
Durham Region is quickly becoming an internationally recognized leader in research and development. For example, UOIT works in partnership with local businesses to develop market-driven research initiatives; Holburn conducts biomedical research for global clients; and NTI pursues aerospace development.
